About Us

Since arriving at The Beaufort in 2002 the owners Eliot and Jana Lewis have worked hard to enhance the old building itself. Modern comforts and a warm open fire have been added without detracting from the best of the traditional and historic which already existed. Modern fabrics and furnishings have been added throughout including paintings by Jana herself which take a light-hearted look at food as dressings for her female models, and her previous career in design has benefited the inn.

The food offering has gone from strength to strength, starting in the early days with the couple themselves working in the kitchen using Eliot’s skills as a chef to now having a team worthy of the AA rosette that the inn holds.

Like all hostelries seasonal staff may come and go, but The Beaufort has been fortunate in having a core of staff whom guests may recognise or call by name on return visits. They have a knowledge and love of the area which they happily pass on to guests staying here.
